popular musical styles have been influenced by many rich cultural
traditions. In most music throughout the world, the drum is the
heart of life. Ebo Okokan offers this life force of Afro-Cuban rhythms
from the heart.
The artistic vision of Ebo Okokan is to cultivate a regional and
nationally recognized performing ensemble of musicians, dancers
and singers. Our vision is to provide entertainment and education
to show the connections and influences that the Afro-Cuban culture
has had and continues to have on the American culture.
Ebo Okokan is a traditional Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music and Dance
Ensemble. Our mission is to preserve the integrity and authenticity
of the Afro-Cuban culture through performances, lecture-demonstrations,
and workshops.

lecture-demonstrations, and will enlighten audiences of all ages
through drum and dance workshops, instrument construction, and interactive
performances.
Ebo Okokan has existed in several forms before consolidating into
its present configuration of musicians, dancers, and singers. since
1992, Ebo Okokan has presented workshops, performances, lectures
and demonstrations from elementary schools to universities, community
events, and other regional and local, multi-cultural functions.
Beginning as a group of three musicians and two dancer-singers,
