Las Manos Locas
Las Manos Locas (The Crazy Hands) plays
plays an infectious brew of African, Afro-Cuban and Americanized
rhythms and songs.
Playing on Drums Of All Types, with Bells, Shakers, Singing and
Dancing, they are often blamed for instilling too much joy into
the lives of innocent bystanders. Unsuspecting listeners have found
themselves swept into the percolating rhythms.
Every Las Manos Locas performance includes having the audience join
in. Each performance is intended to be an opportunity for people,
anybody, to join in and experience the joy of the music, the rhythms
and playing together like children playing in a musical sandbox.
A typical Las Manos Locas's performance includes traditional folkloric
music, hybrid arrangements of traditional rhythms, modern cover
songs and original music. Performances commonly include audience
participation and spontaneous dance. Las Manos Locas selects music
that embodies the passion and joy that has survived and thrived
in this music through its journey to the Americas from Africa via
Slavery.
