The fourth annual One Root Festival returns to Roseville on
Saturday and Sunday, September 20th and 21st, in Royer Park.
Admission is free and the festivities begin at 11am and go
until 7pm.
The
one root festival is a celebration of cultural traditions
and diversity through food, arts and music. It offers a broad
variety of tantalizing, ethnic foods, plus an even greater
selection of vendors displaying unique arts, crafts and clothing
from around the world. Enjoy fabulous Latino, Folk, Blues,
Reggae and many more soul-stirring sounds as music and dance
groups perform throughout the weekend's festivities.
Nowhere
else can you sample such an incredible selection of food choices
in one place than at the the One Root Festival. Expect to
find spicy Mexican and Thai dishes, satisfying German and
Polish offerings, and more exotic Greek, Chinese and Polynesian
foods.
Children
will enjoy the One Root Village, a special area filled with
entertaining and educational crafts, as well as a story teller
and other interactive activities designed just for kids.
This
year's features performers include Prezident Brown, Tchiya
Amet, Zydeco Flames and Lynsey Bostick. You're in for an incredible
show from this intoxicating dance music that uses chats in
his native Shona tongue, many of them healing chants. Other
headline bands include King Caleb, ,
a reggae format; Canela Rose and Tex Mex performer and and
Vivian Lee, a Jazz and blues primary artist.

The third annual One Root Festival returns to Roseville on
Saturday and Sunday, September 22nd and 23rd, in Royer Park.
Admission is free and the festivities begin each day at 11:00
am and go until 7:00 pm. Due to overwhelming popularity in
its first two years, the 2001 festival is expanding to a full
weekend.

year's featured performers include Zydeco Flames who's very
popular sounds have entertained area audiences for years,
Thomas Mapfumo a popular world beat group, and back by popular
demand, Freddie Hughes and his "Alpha Band" always gets the
crowd to their feet.
The
One Root Festival depends on solely on financial support from
local businesses. Major sponsors are HP, the Sacramento Bee,
and The City of Roseville, but there are still sponsorship
spaces available. Last year's one day festival drew 7,500
to Royer Park. This year the One Root Festival planning committee,
all volunteers from area businesses, expect about 10,000 attendees.
