The Youth village within the One Root
festival is fast developing from ‘must see” side
attraction to “must do” main attraction.
Thanks to the dedication of the three chairpersons team
of Shirley Smith, Bob Cooley, and Wanda Johnson.
This year’s event promises a lot of activities for
the youth and the young at hearths. Realizing the truth that the youth of today are adults of
tomorrow, the goal of the Festival is to “catch them
young.”
INTERPRETE AFRICAN TALKING DRUM &
LEARN TO USE CHOPSTICK
No more opting for the fork at the
Japanese restaurant after your family has made it to the One
Root Festival 2002. Session
on using chopstick, interpreting African Talking drum, and
learning variety of games from around the world are all
included free in this year’s package.
Your children’s worldview scope will be
widened after the One Root festival with enriching activities
from the cultures around the world including Japanese, African
(Ghana, Nigeria), Turkish, Brazilian, Korean, Native American,
Mexican, African American, Puerto Rican, Filipino, Tahitian,
Australian, New Zealander and more.
Ever seen a Mariachi group team up with
African Djembe drummers with Japanese flute, backed by
multicultural Choir group? It’s all happening at the One
Root Festival Youth Village. And it is a “must do!”
